Thursday 12 May 2011- The Forest Open Day

The Forest in Edinburgh is a volunteer-run, collectively-owned, free arts and events space. It provides a dedicated space for people to get involved in any creative activity imaginable. Events have included music, theatre, dancing, yoga, massage, poetry recitals, art displays, knit-ins, book tours, language teaching, monsterbike making and plenty more.

The Forest are holding an Open Day today inviting you to explore the space and what it has to offer from 3-5pm.  Find out more on the Events section of the Voluntary Arts Week website.  Email events@theforest.org.uk or ring 0131 220 4538 to book your place.

The Forest’s stand at the Voluntary Arts Week Celebration Event on Saturday was packed to the brim with an array of arts and craft activities, from printmaking, to book binding and even an invitation to type letters to your loved ones!  The stand was a hive of activity and the enthusiasm of the Forest Volunteers really was contagious.

Due to the bankruptcy of their landlords, the building Forest currently occupies is up for sale, and they have launched a campaign to raise enough money to buy 3 Bristo Place.  Help support The Forest by visiting www.theforest.org.uk where you can see the programme of regular arts and craft events.

You could also checkout The Forest’s Roofraiser II programme which lists a whole host of live music shows throughout May that have been co-ordinated to raise money in aid of various causes but mostly to Save the Forest Cafe!
